International Coaching Week (ICW) 2011

Ideas and planning for you to make the most of this annual event

6th – 12th February

Coaches from around the world choose to participate in International Coaching Week (ICW), taking place 6th – 12th February, 2011, to promote and celebrate the coaching profession through a number of activities and pro bono coaching opportunities. The ideas are endless and are only limited by your imagination! Put the date into you diary and start thinking about how you will be promoting our wonderful profession.

Below is a list of various activities coaches have previously used. Feel free to utilise these ideas or indeed have them serve as your starting point to creating your own unique way of celebrating ICW.

• Coaching Column: Write a complimentary coaching column for your local newspaper, business journal, local association or company newsletter on a topic of interest to individuals, business owners or corporate employees.

• Press Release for Coaching College Students: Provide a public service at your local college or university by offering to coach college seniors to assist them in making an important after-graduation decision about their future careers. Work through department heads, the student activity office, the women's centre and/or the career development office.

• Letter to Companies or Organisations Volunteering Coaching: Utilise your list of contacts at Organisations and businesses to write a letter offering to provide complimentary coaching to five of their superstars to assist them in honing their leadership skills.

• Letter to Chamber of Commerce, Service Organisation or Trade Associations Offering to Conduct a Seminar or Workshop: Contact local Organisations to offer a complimentary seminar or workshop on a topic that would be of specific value to their members.

• Letter to Radio Show Requesting Guest Appearance: Contact your local radio stations that have regular call-in programs and present the idea of an interview with you in honour of International Coaching Week, which may include a call-in segment where individuals call in for coaching.
