Note: All UK ICF Board Directors will be legal directors from Jan 2009

President - For Info for President Elect Role
Neil Scotton is in post until Dec 2008

Objective:
To enable ICF's vision, core purpose, core values and strategic goals to be realised appropriately in the UK.

Primary roles:
  • Chair of board
  • Provide the strategic focus
  • To co-ordinate the work of the Board and keep it in alignment with agreed strategic aims and core values.
  • Work with the Global ICF Board & international ICF colleagues as appropriate to support the strategic aims of the ICF
  • Act as figurehead for the organisation with other bodies whenever appropriate
  • Ensure that through the work of the board and the infrastructure of the UKICF the organisation is appropriately connected with members, buyers of coaching services, coach training organisations, other coaching organisations, the media, the public, government, and other key stakeholders, audiences and partners
  • To lead on projects and initiatives requiring Presidential status and relationships
  • Serve as one of the Directors of the UK ICF Legal Structure

Special Requirements:
  • Served on UK ICF Board for at least one year.
  • ICF-credentialed coach.
  • Experience of leading a team and working at board level.
  • Estimated time commitment: 12 hours per week

President-Elect
To take up President role Jan 2009
Objective:
  • To support the President in fulfilling the duties of the President
  • To prepare for the term of Presidency and provide continuity of leadership, and continuity in planning and delivery of the Board's strategic goals.

Primary roles:
  • A large part of the responsibility of the President-Elect is to work closely with the President and Past President in preparation for their own term serving as President.
  • Exact roles and tasks will be determined by discussion with the President and Past President as part of an effective Presidential team
  • The President-Elect should be prepared to assume the office of President or temporarily act in that position at any time.
  • The President-Elect should be familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the President, and of the other elected officers and committee chairpersons.

Special Requirements:
  • Served on UK ICF board.
  • ICF-credentialed coach.
  • Experience of leading a team and working at board level.
  • Estimated time commitment: 8-12 hours per week

Board Secretary
Objective:
To ensure the Board to function legally and as efficiently as possible.
Primary roles:
  • To co-ordinate the Board process and calendar.
  • Company Secretary Responsibilities including (but not limited to) informing the board of any legal responsibilities, organising board meetings, recording board meetings, facilitating board meetings, upholding legislative and constitutional responsibilities of the organisation .
  • Overall responsibility for AGM
  • Overall responsibility for back-office support.

Special Requirements:
  • ICF-credentialed coach or working towards ICF credentialling.
  • Experience of leading a team and ideally working at board level .
  • Estimated time commitment: 4-6 hours per week

Director of Professional Development

Objective:
To plan and co-ordinate activities and processes in partnership with ICF's headquarters staff to support members in their professional development and in gaining the ICF credential
Primary roles:

  • Identify and co-ordinate delivery of the training and support members need to achieve the ICF credential
  • Ensure that the wider professional development needs of members are being met
  • Ensure recognition of each member's achievement of the ICF credential
  • Work closely with the UK ICF Director of Membership, the central ICF administration and other national and international ICF bodies on issues of professional development.
  • Ensure there are effective points of contact for questions of ethics, standards, competencies and credentialing from the media, members and public.
  • Lead volunteer team(s) to deliver professional development program
  • Ensure UKICF has effective relationships with coach training organisations operating in the UK.
  • Responsibility for events administrative staff

Requirements:
  • MCC or PCC
  • Estimated time commitment: 8-12 hours per week

Director of Membership

Objective:

To plan and co-ordinate activities and processes in partnership with ICF's headquarters staff to make membership attractive and support and retain UK ICF members.
Primary roles:
  • Plan and manage initiatives to meet the needs of new members
  • Regularly identify and support the interests of the existing membership
  • Plan and manage the work of the Member Liaison Officer
    With the assistance of a supportive team, develop UK ICF-recognised regional coaching groups and support their hosts and enable connection with other non-ICF local coaching groups
  • Provide training and other mechanisms to support members in achieving viable coaching practices
  • Support the regular publication of a members newsletter (produced by a supporting individual/group)
  • Create and support initiatives to increase membership
  • Ensure co-ordination with the work of the Director of Professional Development

Special Requirements:
  • ICF Member for at least one year
  • Experience of leading successful teams
  • ICF-credentialed coach
  • Estimated time commitment: 8-12 hours per week

Director of Brand Development

Objective:

To raise awareness of coaching and the strengths and benefits of the ICF and UK ICF, it¡¦s credentialing and membership, with potential members, the media, the business community, government, coach training organisations, other coaching associations and other relevant bodies.
Primary roles:
  • Lead the development and communication of marketing collateral that unifies the UK ICF brand and how it is projected
  • Leverage the marketing support and material available from Global ICF for onward communication and use in the UK
  • Identify brand development best practice from other ICF chapters and adapt this for use in the UK
  • Plan and co-ordinate activities and events to create awareness and understanding of the advantages of coaching, the ICF and of UK-based credentialed coaches
  • Ensure the health, vigour and productivity of a supportive PR function in generating articles, press releases and information for local, national and specialist trade media and use.
  • Ensure provision of effective website (with the support of a Web manager (this may be a volunteer role that requires recruiting and supportive management and leadership)
  • Act as a personal ambassador for UK ICF via speaking and writing opportunities

Special Requirements:
  • ICF Member for at least one year
  • Ideally ICF Credentialed coach
  • Marketing experience
  • Estimated time commitment: 8 hours per week

Treasurer

Objective:

To actively manage the ongoing financial health and the strategic financial plan for UK ICF in partnership with ICF's headquarters finance team.
Primary roles:
  • Manage the UK ICF financial cash flow and accounts (with dedicated book-keeping and other professional support as appropriate) and report monthly to the board.
  • Be the contact point for UK ICF Finance.
  • Actively work with the UK ICF board to create innovative ideas for income generation.
  • Manage the funding requests and ensure the UK ICF board are aware of financial implications of all board decisions.
  • Legal Director

Special Requirements:
  • Financial experience at a strategic level as well as a detailed level
  • ICF Member for at least one year
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Experience of working at board level


Estimated time commitment: 4-6 hours per week

Director of ACTP Partnerships

Objective:

To create, develop and maintain relationships with UK based ICF Accredited Coach Training Programs (ACTP) organisations
Primary Roles:
  • Maintain regular face to face and telephone contact with all the UK based ACTP organisations
  • Initiate and implement 'win/win' initiatives with ACTP's that allow all parties to maximise the potential of the relationship
  • Act as contact point and support for any organisations wishing to apply for ACTP status in the UK
  • In liaison with the Director of Brand Development, promote the ACTP concept in the UK coaching market
  • Consult and involve other UK ICF Board members where appropriate
  • Establish appropriate links with ICF in Europe and ICF Global
  • Facilitate a six-monthly review meeting with ACTP organisations

Requirements:
  • Preferably ACC,PCC or MCC
  • Preferably direct experience working for one of the UK ACTP organisations at a senior level.
  • Estimated time commitment 2-4 hours per week
  • Scope of role to be reviewed at the end of the first 12 month tenure

Director of Credentialing & Ethics

Objective:

To support UK ICF affiliates in gaining the ICF Credential in line with the Global aim to dramatically increase the numbers of Credentialed coaches worldwide and therefore in the UK.

Primary roles:
  • To have a comprehensive and clear understanding of the Credentialing process and the ethical stance of the ICF
  • Ensure recognition of each member¡¦s achievement of the ICF credential
  • Attend ACC, PCC, MCC Discussion Forums which will be set up in collaboration with Director of Professional Development
  • To create a team of PCC and MCC credentialed coaches to provide support to members through Credentialing process
  • Ensure that there is a point of contact to answer members and non members Credentialing queries.
  • Ensure all aspects of UK ICF website that relate to Credentialing are kept absolutely current
  • Establish good relationship and work closely with Global Director of Credentialing, Global Ethics Committee and the Global Credentialing Committee
  • To promote the ICF Credential and ethics
  • Work with the ACTPs regarding this promotion
  • Work closely with the Directors of Professional Development and Membership.
  • Promote ICF code of Ethics through awareness raising generally, and organising training for members with the assistance of materials provided by ICF globally

Requirements:
  • MCC or PCC
  • Estimated time commitment 6-8 hours per week
