‘It’s important to me that I’m connected to (and accredited by) the most respected body in coaching worldwide. I have clients from all over the world and I believe it means something to them too. In addition, professionalising the profession is something all coaches should be committed to and this is one way of enacting that.’

Teleclasses
A significant number of coaches work virtually, and the UK ICF membership is spread over a wide geographical area. Therefore a number of our events are run as teleclasses.
How Do They Work?
All the participants call a telephone bridge line which links the callers together in a virtual room. There will be facilitator or leader on the call who will make you feel welcome and explain how the call will work.
Protocol
In a ‘room’ with upwards of many people, background noise can be distracting. Try and call from a landline in a quiet location, and use your telephones mute button when you are listening. Remember to press it again when you want to speak! Here is the teleclass etiquette. Thank you for reading the following and your co-operation:
· Please dial in five minutes before the call is due to start.
· Do your best to minimize background noise and interruptions.
· Be in a quiet space.
· Be prepared to use the mute button on your phone.
· Turn off the ringer on any other phone line in your vicinity.
· Avoid breathing into to the mouthpiece of your phone, it is much appreciated by your fellow participants.
· If you will be taking notes via a computer keyboard that could be heard by others be sure you are muted. Also please turn paper quietly.
· Only use a landline and make sure the battery in your phone is fully charged.
· Do not use a mobile.
· Call promptly so that precious time is not wasted. It is a special number used by many other groups so please only call at the time above.
· If you have ‘music on hold’ please don’t put the call on hold. Other callers will hear your music until you return. Hang up, call back. Thank you.
· If you are using a calling card, be sure to have enough minutes. The "time is about to expire" warning will be heard by the others.
