‘I love the opportunity to be accredited by an independent body which qualifies coaches to the very highest standards. This means that clients truly know that coaches who meet the ICF’s quality measure really are up to the job. This will do much for the future of our profession and for me as a professional.’

“Preparing for the Upturn:- retaining your best talent and managing through challenging times”

Time: 1.30pm to 4.30pm
Where: Kingston University
CCEUs: Three

Context:

We are living in challenging times. The corporate landscape has changed and continues to change. Organisations and individuals within them are under huge pressure as they adapt to survive the challenging economic environment. Corporations and their senior executives, along with their managers and staff, are under huge pressure. Tough decisions are having to be made, and unreasonable hours are having to be worked. How long can this be sustained? How long will this economic situation continue? What will the near term bring? What might the ‘up-turn’ look like? What resources do we all need to be developing now to both employ and deploy for our selves and our teams?

Our intention is to create a space which will allow us all to engage with each other and the knowledge and wisdom of the group and thereby explore these issues at a deeper level. We will encourage reflection, honestly and creativity, and to consider where the professional skills of experienced coaches can support and facilitate these explorations.

What will you get from the day?

    There will be two keynotes:

One from Karen Tweedie, the current Global President of the International Coach federation. An Australian, Karen has spent the last 12 months not only running her own successful corporate coaching business, but also travelling the globe in her ICF capacity learning and listening to the corporate challenges being faced around the planet. Karen will bring the range of her experiences to the meeting and offer a global view on what is happening around the planet and how coaching can facilitate the situation for businesses.

One from Jane Emmanuelle senior Executive coach from Penna and who works with board-level execs across a raft of FTSE companies. Accompanied by one of her corporate clients, they will share their experiences of the ‘local’ corporate landscape, and what has worked and not worked from a coaching perspective.

An invitation to share your own experiences and hear from a range of other senior corporate professionals in a constructive way. An exploration of what it is like ‘out there’ right now – what helps and what doesn’t, and how to build constructive interventions, both now, and for the future upturn.

This is a continuation of the UKICF ‘conversations’ series. We will abide by the concept of “it is a conversation space, not a market space”. The etiquette will be strictly adhered to, so that all those corporate clients who attend do not feel ‘sold’ to and feel free to discuss and debate openly. Similarly those coaches, who invite their clients, will feel safe to do so.

What can you bring to the day?

Bring your experiences, perspectives, and the willingness to share. Coaches, bring a senior corporate client, or more. Clients, bring your coach, or one of your internal coaching colleagues, or another corporate colleague, to add even more richness to the afternoon.

How will the event work?

Our 2 keynote speakers and their clients will share their perspectives, experiences and viewpoints to stimulate the discussion. We will encourage all the participants to share their own stories and experiences, with the aim of better understanding the working environment that is out there currently. We will also encourage the sharing of best practise of what is helping now and what may help in the future. We will also explore what is not useful too. This will be undertaken both in plenary and in small groups.
We will then look ahead and explore how we can implement activities now to ensure we are all ready for the upturn.
We aim to capture the themes, insights and agreed output of this meeting and share it with those who are unable attend, potentially in future events and through other channels

Who is the day for?

Experienced corporate coaches - both internal and external; corporate buyers of coaching; senior corporate clients in organisations & businesses both in public and private sectors who have an interest in helping themselves and the people in the organisations handle the current work challenges more effectively, and both prepare and retain them for the upturn
