COACHING IN A TIME OF GLOBAL CRISIS
This is a tele-conversation with Julio Olalla, MCC
on Wednesday June 4 2008 at 8pm UK time

“Humanity today produces more food than we can eat and we now have the technology to increase human productivity exponentially. However, things have not worked out as well as we had predicted. A great number of people live in hunger; biodiversity is disappearing at a great speed; war is as present as ever; and pollution is deteriorating the quality of our agricultural land, our seas, and our air, affecting all life on the planet.
We must learn to read the signs in the world today. We may call them trends, tendencies, or indications of something new that wants to happen. To listen to them, we must inaugurate a dialogue with a new learning that departs from the unidirectional relationship we have developed with the universe. We must inaugurate a new kind of listening, a new cosmology and nothing less.
Thinkers, from all over the world, have begun to realize that the changes that are taking place today are not only complex and systemic, but they are also paradoxical and contradictory, therefore much harder to detect and to understand.” -Julio Olalla, MCC

Julio Olalla, founder and president of The Newfield Network, is a master at generating learning environments that establish the trust, safety, respect and well-being that accelerates the potential for learning and action. For more than 17 years, he has trained over 50,000 individuals and worked with more than 300 organizations to create better teams and stronger leaders. He and his team have worked with organizations in the United States, Canada, Argentina, Europe, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Spain and Venezuela.
Newfield, an international education and learning company, is committed to bringing new and more powerful ways of knowing and learning to organizations to help them produce more creative, effective AND innovative products and services. The Newfield Network, Inc. has headquarters in the United States, Europe and South America.
Julio is also a masterful keynote speaker having addressed large audiences in many countries on the topics of leadership, organizational learning, education, and coaching. His message inspires audiences to review not only the content of what they are thinking and learning, but also their interpretation of learning itself and its practices. He believes that our current understanding of what it is “to know” and “to learn” are insufficient to address the concerns we are facing as a global community.
Julio currently lives in Boulder, Colorado with his family.
“In an era when many of us face enormous challenges, we also realize that our traditional training, interpretations and ways of acting are often not enough. We work longer hours, we learn time management systems, we read books, attend seminars, and yet, we still must continually learn new, more productive ways of addressing demands on ourselves. Often, we live with a nagging feeling that something is missing. I founded the Newfield Network to address this primary concern that individuals and organizations are facing today.”
