‘I love the opportunity to be accredited by an independent body which qualifies coaches to the very highest standards. This means that clients truly know that coaches who meet the ICF’s quality measure really are up to the job. This will do much for the future of our profession and for me as a professional.’

DESIGNING ACTIONS: PLANNING AND GOAL SETTING: MANAGING ACCOUNTABILITY

This is a teleseminar
with Sonia Sinisterra, PCC
on Tuesday 28th October 2008 at 8pm UK time

The ULTIMATE TEST of the effectiveness of a coaching session. This is what designing actions: planning and goal setting: managing accountability is for me. In all this years of training professional coaches, I have observed two paths regarding this competency:

The coach displays problem solving skills and the job is focused mainly on putting together a clear plan and coming up with clear actions, making sure this part of the coaching process gets done.
or
The coach has done a great job during the coaching session, has been able to create a high level of awareness so the actions designed by the client come from a deep sense of urgency resulting from this awareness, and are created naturally, fall easily and the coach´s job is mainly to support with structures of planning and goal setting skills.

The question to ask then is:

Where is your energy as a coach in this final part of the coaching session: on action planning or in ensuring a balance between essence and action planning?
