What our UK members say:

'Professional standards are vital to the standing and credibility of Coaching as an emerging profession. The ICF is the only independent professional body with a track record of accrediting coaches to these rigorous standards and at a variety of levels. So I am proud to be designated a Master Coach by the ICF and consider it my responsibility to myself and my clients ( national and international, corporate and personal) to ensure that I continue to operate at that level......luckily the ICF makes sure I do that!'

CREATING A SUCCESSFUL COACHING PRACTICE
- a personal story

This is a telediscussion
with Philip Brew MCC
on March 12th 2008 at 12.30pm UK time

Having done no work other than coaching for 12 years, and having earned a very good living doing what I love, it still comes as something of a surprise that others view me as an example of success in the business of building a healthy coaching practice.

Creating a thriving business requires a different skill set than being an excellent coach, and in my case I certainly had no clever marketing plan, in fact no clear business plan at all. So I’ve become curious and reflective about how exactly it is that I’ve managed to create and sustain this healthy practice. I have some answers to this question and I’m told that this story may be relevant to many coaches. So in this ‘telediscussion’ I’ll share what I think have been key factors of success – and then we’ll have an open discussion. Please bring all your questions.

Philip is an MCC, a past Co-President of UKICF, and has recently been appointed as a Director of the ICF Global Board. He is co-founder of Coaching Development Ltd, which provides ICF-accredited coach training programmes.
