I began my working life as a careers counsellor, working with every age and career stage, and career issues continue to thread their way into coaching assignments. A move into consultancy with an international management consultancy and a research role in a UK business school prepared me for a move into executive coaching, where I have worked for the last 20 years. My work in executive coaching has led me to train extensively in gestalt coaching, TA, brief therapy, mindfulness, ACT, Heartmath coaching, Trauma Incident Reduction Therapy alongside my substantive training as an executive coach.
In recent years I have developed a particular expertise in resilience coaching, which became the subject of my Doctoral research.
I have written a number of career, coaching and management books: the most recent of which is Resilience: A Practical Guide for Coaches.
I am Visiting Professor in Business Coaching at Ulster University, a Faculty member of the AoEC, a Chartered Fellow of CIPD and a Legacy Fellow of the Career Development Institute.
Alongside my accreditation with ICF as a PCC, I am also a qualified Coach Supervisor and Coach Mentor.
